I used TaskRabbit for the first time last week and highly recommend it if you have tasks, chores, errands you need done for your home or your business.
TaskRabbit is an online service, yet it provides you with an actual human to do some work for you in person (or remotely). You state the task you need done, and then people bid on what price they will do it for. You can see the ratings of all the people bidding; many TaskRabbits have done dozens or hundreds of tasks successfully, and have customer reviews to prove it.
I needed a desk put together in our office and ended up working with TaskRabbit Juan, who was fantastic. He came to us at the agreed-upon time, spent 3 hours assembling the furniture and removing old furniture, and then I logged in online to pay him with my credit card. He did a better and faster job than I ever could; and we also had some interesting discussions.
The service only serves certain metropolitan areas right now (so if you’re not in New York City, San Francisco, Boston, or a few other cities then you’ll have to wait.)
The most common tasks seem to be assembling IKEA furniture, delivering items, organizing/filing, cleaning, and handyperson-type jobs. Some other ideas of how you can use a TaskRabbit:
- Data entry
- Research
- Shopping at your grocery store
- Laundry
- Making basic phone calls
- Inventorying
- Cooking
