IvanExpert has discovered serious calendar-related bugs (software defects) which arise in specific cases when Microsoft Outlook for Mac (or Entourage), iOS devices (iPhone/iPad/iPod touch), and Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 (which is what hosts such as Intermedia use for new accounts) are used together. Exchange Server 2007 does not appear to have these problems.

These cases, at least, all result in event problems.

Actions: On iOS, schedule a recurring all-day appointment, synchronize, and then edit the series in Outlook, synchronize.

Result: On iOS and Outlook Web Access, causing it to appear to span two days, starting either on the day before the event, or on the same day as the event. Futher editing can cause it to become a 48-hour event, appearing to span three days.

Actions: On iOS, create a non-recurring event, synchronize iOS and Outlook, then change it to recurring on iOS, synchronize iOS and Outlook, edit its series on Outlook, synchronize Outlook and iOS.

Result: The start time of the event is moved back four hours (causing the event duration to lengthen by four hours) on iOS and Outlook Web Access.

Actions: On Outlook for Mac, create or edit an event (recurring or not) that is longer than 24-hours, but not indicated as all-day. Synchronize Outlook and iOS.

Result: Event will appear as all-day event spanning two days on iOS; if edited on iOS, it will become an all-day event spanning two days in OWA and Outlook as well.
