I’ll have more to say about this in time, but Steve Jobs’ resignation as CEO of Apple is a sad day for the company and for me personally. I worked for him, briefly, when he returned to Apple in the late nineties, when the company was chaotic and vulnerable. Even then it was apparent to me that the company would stabilize under his direction. I think I only heard him speak at two company events — one was informal, in the cafeteria, and he was wearing shorts and sandals, I think — and he emanated whatever ineffable quality it is that true leaders have. You felt like you were in capable hands. So I feel for the employees of Apple today — regardless of what the company’s future looks like, Steve Jobs put his heart and soul into Apple, and those who worked for him will surely miss him.
Steve Jobs was a true leader
