I recently met Erica Reitman, the marketing director of Squarespace, and I’m very impressed with what the company is doing.
Based on their info page, Squarespace has been around since 2003, but it’s only recently that I’ve been reading about them and hearing their sponsorship of various podcasts I listen to regularly.
The idea of Squarespace is to make it easy for non-HTML and non-Flash experts to create beautifully designed, professional, modular websites that can be easily updated. Any Mac user knows the importance of good design, and Squarespace makes it easy to have an attractive website without hiring a designer and spending thousands of dollars.
You can choose a basic template from their list of designs (or if you have a designer, he/she can create a custom template for you). Then you choose different “modules” to add to your site, including blogs, photo galleries, podcasts, forms, and others.
Some added bonuses: They have built-in analytics tools to track site visitors. And they have an iPhone app, for checking your site or adding blog posts on the fly!
