The New iPad: We just got our new iPad 2, along with the magical magnetized cover. Our first impressions: While it’s definitely thinner and lighter than the original iPad (plus it has the 2 cameras), this model isn’t revolutionary.
If you’ve got the original iPad there’s no burning reason to sell it and get the newer one, unless you are itching to use FaceTime with faraway friends or family. Over time, newer apps may take advantage of the iPad 2’s superior computing power, but that’s certainly not the case yet.
MobileMe Calendar Upgrade: If you’re a MobileMe user, Apple is requiring you to “upgrade” your MobileMe calendar by May 5th. If you use iCal and never log into me.com, you won’t really see any changes, but if you don’t do it, your calendars will stop synchronizing. For some of our clients the upgrade has caused problems–so before you upgrade you should back up your iCal, make sure your Mac is running OS X 10.6.4 Snow Leopard or later, and make sure your iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad is running iOS 4.2.1 or later. Read Apple’s FAQ page on the new MobileMe for more info.
Contact us if you’d like our help with the upgrade, or if you have problems after upgrading.
