
This is super cool — rather than having to dig a big tunnel in the street to run cables, a new technique called microtrenching cuts a narrow groove for smaller cables like fiber optics for internet. One of the problems with Verizon FiOS in NYC is its relative lack of availability; that may change soon, as they will be putting cables in the grooves between the sidewalk and the pavement.
