Is the iPad the only tablet, or are there other tablets that people are actually buying?

I’m Ivan from IvanExpert, and we’re going to talk about tablets. There are really only a couple of players in the tablet space.
First, what is a tablet? We’re defining it as a handheld computer that has semi-limited capabilities, but it’s thin and tablet-like and can do things like browse the web and read email, and therefore can partially replace a computer.
So the crazy leaders in the tablet space are Apple with their iPad, which is a limited but fully functioning computer, which you can do a lot with. For the most part people have not embraced the other tablets on the market that run the Android operating system, such as Samsung, or BlackBerry’s operating system.
However there is another player which is pretty interesting, which is Amazon. They have the Kindle. Most people think of the Kindle as a book reader, but Amazon is really turning it into a multifunction mobile platform, and in particular the new color Kindle Fire is their first real splash in the deep end of providing a media consumption device for movies and books and other stuff that Amazon sells at a very low price. And then their original kindle, the non-color kindle, is now down under $100.
So the Kindle is a force to be reckoned with; the iPad still has overwhelming dominance in the tablet computer space. Nobody else has really figured out how to get a toehold yet.
